Please don't read the film's synopsis if you are interested in seeing this based on my spoiler-free review. While I don’t think that it’s considered a spoiler, part of the film's central theme comes as an exciting surprise.

This is another entry from Saban Films (the same company responsible for the American incarnation of the Power Rangers). I’ve reviewed several films from Saban this year, and while I don’t know if they’ll be in the running for an Oscar anytime soon, they do something few direct-to-streaming style films do. They keep me consistently interested from start to finish. They’ve been consistently releasing films since 2015; the odds are even if you don’t realize it, you’ve probably seen some. (2017) POWER RANGERS, 3 FROM HELL, JAY AND SILENT BOB REBOOT, GUNS AKIMBO, (2021) WRONG TURN, and many more are just some examples of their releases. My personal favorite recent release was AMERICAN CARNAGE.

A few minutes in, I wasn’t sure where the film would go; it reminded me of a standard rom-com. That isn’t a bad thing, but I wasn’t expecting much else, and then boom, the theme mentioned above came into play and completely changed the film. Making what could’ve been a mailed-in story far more interesting. I will say that the film deals with mental health, and I am far from a professional on the subject, so I don’t know if it was handled perfectly. I do feel that it was respectfully done, though.

If you’re a fan of the Star Wars universe, you may recognize Bonnie Piesse, who played Aunt Beru in the Star Wars prequels and returned to the role for the recently released OBI-WAN KENOBI series on Disney+. She was the highlight of this film and made me appreciate her performance.

As a whole, I think this is probably my second favorite release from Saban, and I hope they continue on this quality and trajectory of films. I have a few more releases of theirs coming up, so I will report back.
