What a fantastic experience, I love watching a film, and my only complaint, in the end, is that it was too short. Being as though it was made as a short, that makes sense but still. I loved the feel of the entire short being an homage to other films in the horror genre. I enjoyed everything about this, Gigi Gustin, who also has a story credit on the film, did a remarkable job with her role.

It also felt like there was nothing off the table; every time you thought you knew what was going on, you’d be thrown for a loop. Bill Moseley (HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES, THE DEVIL’S REJECTS) plays a fun role that I didn’t recognize; after figuring it out, I thought it was brilliant.

The film has already been nominated and won awards already. I honestly would love to see it expanded on and given a full-length feature treatment. I think that director/writer Samuel Gonzalez (who also directed my recent favorite, THE RETALIATORS) could come up with an incredible film. Both Gonzalez and Gustin have been nominated for multiple awards already. I look forward to seeing how much success this ends up having.

Gustin also had a role in THE RETALIATORS and sold this film and story. It’s hard to bring a character to life in a movie with less than 20 minutes of screen time. If you’re unfamiliar with her work, keep an eye out for this when it becomes available. I believe we have a new final girl/scream queen in the making here.

The ultimate accomplishment for a short film is when it can keep you thinking, and I haven’t stopped thinking about this one. It was clever, well done, and left me wanting more of everything about it. The simplicity of the story is countered by the brilliant retro feel of the film and the character development that makes you legitimately invested in the story.
