A classic in its own right and a film that I was always shocked I hadn’t seen. I was surprised that the film was relatively new (initially released in 2002). I had thought the movie was from the 90s or possibly even earlier. It just goes to show never to assume that you know anything about a film until you watch it.

While vampires probably win out, lycans (werewolves) are a close second for me. I’m a self-titled horror fan; I love the genre and have always had a weak spot for werewolves in film. This is probably in part to my love of THE MONSTER SQUAD when I was younger, and GINGER SNAPS as I grew in my passion for cinema.

I was in for quite the treat. I knew very little about the film, other than it was about the werewolves as mentioned above. It was fun and looked gorgeous in its 4k transfer; the effects were fantastic, and while practical vs. CGI, it added to a level of impending doom to the creatures that were larger than life on the screen. If you’ve never seen this before, make sure that you go in without looking up too much about it. The visuals alone are worth the watch!

Second Sight Films puts a lot of effort into the films they select to restore. It’s never a random “well, the rights for this are available.” It’s a careful curation of some of the most impressive films in film's long, storied history.
